Trone: the French brand that makes designer toilets

Are toilets doomed to remain a purely functional element of our interiors? Trone, a young French brand founded in 2018 by Hugo Volpei, wants to prove otherwise. With its bold approach to sanitary design, it is reinventing an often-neglected everyday object, turning it into an interesting piece of interior architecture.

Models that break with convention

Trone's gamble is based on a clear bias: to break away from the sterile and impersonal standards that dominate the market. Its first model, Icone01, illustrates this desire. With its transparent water tank, it plays onraw aesthetics and the staging of function, while maintaining a minimalist approach.

Another striking model is Callipyge: a wall-mounted toilet with bold geometric shapes, where the perfect symmetry of traditional sanitary ware gives way to a more distinctive silhouette. Inspired byArt Deco, it is clearly aimed at a public with an appreciation for design and sophisticated interiors.

But behind these visual choices, Trone seeks above all to stand out in a sector where few players dare to innovate. Hotels, restaurants, and interior designers seem to be the first to be convinced, integrating these models into places where every detail is designed with the user experience in mind.

An expansion of the range

To support its ambition, Trone has given itself the means to expand. After an initial fundraising round of €2 million in 2020, the brand did it again in 2023 with an additional €5 million, notably to structure its presence in Europe and diversify its offering.

The goal is clear: to move beyond being a niche aesthetic brand and establish itself as a credible alternative to the major brands in the sector. The French brand is now expanding its offering with designer hand basins. This diversification aims to provide a consistent and aesthetic experience throughout the bathroom. In September 2024, Trone unveiled its new range called Rituel, consisting of a countertop basin and a hand basin. This collection is in line with the brand's commitment to combining functionality and sleek design.

This expansion of the product range reflects Trone's desire to rethink all aspects of the bathroom, offering aesthetic and functional solutions that meet the needs of modern users.

Trone emphasizes an ecological dimension in its message. Icone01 uses an optimized flush that limits water consumption to three liters per use, an asset in a context of increased awareness of resources.
