In its latest collection, “Lasting,” Attachment d’Enomoto focuses on natural materials and minimalist design to explore sustainability and timelessness in contemporary fashion, while maintaining a sensual and futuristic aesthetic.
A search for permanence in the ephemeral
Koki Enomoto has designed an autumn collection for Attachment titled “Lasting,” which explores the possibility of a truly timeless wardrobe. The approach is thoughtful rather than flashy: garments that appear ordinary at first glance, until the fabric reveals its full elegance. The designer says he observes the marks of time in daily life: “These things exist in the banality of our lives, and they live there. But no one pays them any attention.”
STILL: The Eloquence of Materials
This season marks the launch of “STILL,” a new high-end line dedicated to precious natural materials such as silk, cashmere, and wool. Integrated into the main collection, these pieces embody absolute visual discretion, revealing themselves only to the touch. The label’s strategy is to return clothing to its tactile essence and structural integrity. “The clothes aren’t particularly flashy or elaborate in design; they simply look like everyday pieces,” explains Enomoto, highlighting the subtle contrast between the garment’s appearance and its actual experience.
Sensuality and reimagined styles
The sensual dimension, a recurring theme in the designer’s previous seasons, is expressed here with understated restraint. Notable features include structural details on the denim—with the waistband folded over to suggest undressing—as well as buttonless shirts worn open down to the navel. This sensual aura extends the spirit of the “Easily” spring collection, a fluid and relaxed reinterpretation of 1980s codes, marked by silk-cashmere knits with softened silhouettes.
Volumetric architecture and futuristic accents
Technically, the collection stands out for its clean, sharp cuts, enhanced by avant-garde details. The classic neckline gives way to reimagined long-sleeve T-shirts, some of which feature funnel necks. The outerwear collection features down jackets with asymmetrical closures, available in black or sand gray, and thick wool coats layered over angora sweaters. The slightly oversized ribbed wool sweater with a zippered collar perfectly embodies this quest for balance between modernity and timelessness.
Building on a rich heritage
Founded in 1999 by Kazuyuki Kumagai, Attachment has always championed a philosophy centered on craftsmanship and precision in tailoring. Appointed creative director in 2022, Enomoto carries on this legacy by infusing it with a measured contemporary sensibility. Building on the exploration begun with the “Review” collection, which examined the tension between the private sphere and the public image, “Lasting” extends this stylistic journey with beautiful coherence.
The Promise of Time
The use of natural fibers and impeccable craftsmanship reflects a current desire for sustainability. It remains to be seen whether this promise of longevity will stand the test of time. While the design and choice of fabrics lay a solid foundation, the long-term impact of these pieces will inevitably depend on how they are produced, how they are cared for, and their future availability.
With “Lasting,” Enomoto refines a minimalist and tactile vision of Attachment, blending sensual minimalism with a tribute to the patina of time. This collection confirms the brand’s aesthetic evolution since 2022, while raising a fascinating question: how can we reconcile this visceral desire for timelessness with the inherently ephemeral nature of today’s fashion?
