Givenchy is banking on Marco De Vincenzo's talent for its leather goods line

Marco De Vincenzo Takes the Reins of Leather Goods at Givenchy

Givenchy has entrusted Marco De Vincenzo with its leather goods division. The LVMH-owned fashion house announced the arrival of the Sicilian designer yesterday in a brief statement: “Working closely with Sarah Burton (Creative Director, ed.), Marco De Vincenzo will help accelerate the development of the house’s leather goods category, bringing his unique vision and expertise to support this new chapter for Givenchy.”

Solid expertise honed at Etro and Fendi

De Vincenzo served as creative director at Etro for four years, until last March, during which time he designed the “Vela” and “Saturno” it-bags. The designer also spent many years at Fendi’s design studio as a leather goods consultant, honing his talent in this sector. One of the first winners of the “Who is on next?” young talent competition, De Vincenzo quickly made a name for himself with his eponymous brand launched in 2009, which also caught the eye of LVMH, with whom he signed a joint venture in 2014. In 2021, the designer bought back the shares of his own brand from the French giant as well as from his other partner, Mmgp.

The fresh perspective brought by Sarah Burton

After 13 years at the helm of Alexander McQueen, Sarah Burton presented her first collection for Givenchy last year and will unveil her first menswear designs on June 25 during a presentation at Paris Fashion Week.
