Nomos unveils a gold version of its Tangente Neomatik 38, blending understated elegance with discreet luxury

Nomos Glashütte: Gold Makes a Subtle Debut on the Tangente

At the 2026 edition of Watches and Wonders, the Nomos Glashütte manufacture is expanding its iconic collection with a brand-new 18-karat gold version. A design that combines subtle elegance with cutting-edge technology, elevating understated sophistication to the pinnacle of luxury.

It is a precious evolution that the German brand unveils with its new Tangente Neomatik 38 Update. The manufacturer is introducing two 18-karat gold variations, complemented by a stainless steel option, all featuring a redesigned 38.5 mm case diameter. This strategic dimension offers a more natural alternative to the previous 35 mm and 41 mm versions.

This subtle adjustment is fundamental: at Nomos, a single millimeter of precision dictates the entire look of a timepiece. The Tangente, famous for its long, tapered lugs that amplify its visual presence, finds new proportions here. Where the 41 mm case imposed a certain grandeur and the 35 mm one absolute discretion, this new format strikes the perfect balance, preserving the watch’s extreme slimness while asserting its presence on the wrist.

The chromatic refinement of the Bauhaus

The three new models share a common architecture, underscored by a slim profile of just 7.4 mm. Opting for a minimalist design, the gold version with blued hands remains deeply faithful to the manufacture’s signature aesthetic. The gold variant, adorned with tone-on-tone hands, takes this visual continuity to its peak. In contrast, the steel model swaps the traditional blue for polished black hands, embracing a resolutely monochromatic approach.

This interplay of colors transforms the perception of the dial. The Tangente preserves its purist heritage, deeply inspired by the Bauhaus, while allowing itself a confident foray into a more exclusive and nuanced register.

A precision mechanism skillfully integrated

Beneath the apparent simplicity of the face beats the DUW 6101 automatic caliber, an in-house movement equipped with the famous Swing System and a quick, bidirectional date adjustment. Nomos’s ring-date mechanism perfectly illustrates this fusion of design and mechanics: two delicate red markers frame the date on a circular scale around the periphery, reinventing the traditional date window display. This patented complication, adjusted in six positions, can be admired through a sapphire crystal case back.

A celebration of understated luxury

Priced at €12,400 for the gold models and €3,680 for the steel version with blued hands, these creations reflect a commitment to offering an expanded range with a consistent positioning. The use of gold here is understated, representing a discreet option in fine watchmaking, a far cry from financial excess.

This precious Tangente does not seek the spotlight through brilliance. It cultivates a sophisticated restraint, as if suspended in time. In an era where extravagance often dictates the codes of valuable timepieces, Nomos chooses the elegance of restraint. The result, of a rare balance, proves that the Glashütte-based manufacture has mastered to perfection the art of whispering luxury.
