Seiko celebrates its craftsmanship with two limited-edition Presage watches inspired by traditional Japanese art

To mark its 145th anniversary, Seiko is expanding its Presage collection with two limited-edition watches that showcase the richness of Japanese craftsmanship through Arita porcelain and silk. These two creations blend tradition and modernity to celebrate the quintessence of craftsmanship.

Japanese excellence embodied by the Presage collection

To celebrate its 145th anniversary, the Japanese watchmaker is breathing new life into its Presage Classic “Craftsmanship” line with two limited editions that embrace the art of contrast. On one hand, the HCC007 captures the light with a cobalt-blue Arita porcelain dial. On the other, the HCC004 favors a more understated aesthetic, inspired by the delicacy of Japanese silk. These two timepieces reflect the brand’s clear ambition: to pay homage to traditional crafts while preserving the timeless elegance of the dress watch.

This approach is in line with Seiko’s vision. Since the launch of the Presage line in 2010, the brand has gradually turned this collection into a true laboratory for experimentation with textures and techniques. While enamel dials paved the way in 2012, Arita porcelain made its debut in the watchmaking world in 2019. On the mechanical front, the manufacturer equips these timepieces with the 6R51 caliber, ensuring a generous 72-hour power reserve. This undeniable technical advantage distinguishes a simple desk watch from a true companion designed to accompany you throughout the weekend.

The HCC007: A Vibrant Tribute to Arita Porcelain

The HCC007 is an ode to material and subtlety. Here, Seiko reinterprets its signature color—the famous “Seiko Blue”—through a cobalt blue enhanced by a translucent glaze that creates a mesmerizing play of shades. This masterful project is overseen by master artisan Hiroyuki Hashiguchi, whose team—led by Toshiaki Kawaguchi—crafts each dial. The process demands absolute mastery: casting, firing, enameling… each meticulous step results in subtle variations from one piece to the next.

It is precisely this difference—this slight imperfection—that gives this watch its unique charm. At a time when the industry often prioritizes absolute uniformity, Seiko champions a distinctive artisanal quality that makes all the difference. The case, with a harmonious diameter of 39.6 mm and a thickness of 12.8 mm, is water-resistant to 30 meters. The sapphire caseback, acclaimed by enthusiasts of fine watchmaking, allows the automatic movement to be admired and serves as a reminder that, despite this level of sophistication, this timepiece remains particularly affordable compared to its Swiss competitors.

The HCC004: Sleek Lines and a Silky Texture

More understated, the HCC004 emphasizes balanced proportions and discretion. Its 36-mm-diameter case meets a genuine demand for slimmer, decidedly dressier watches. Its silver dial, whose texture evokes the delicacy of silk, comes alive with subtle shimmer, understatedly enhanced by hands and hour markers finished in “Seiko Blue.” While the overall design embraces minimalism, the case asserts its own character through a fluted bezel and delicately beveled lugs.

This model also takes a more versatile approach. Equipped with the same 6R51 caliber, this version offers water resistance up to 100 meters—a highly practical feature for everyday use. This contrast between the two new models perfectly illustrates the richness of the collection: one highlights the preciousness of a fire-fired porcelain dial, while the other emphasizes understated, all-purpose elegance. In practice, the HCC004 stands out as the natural choice for those seeking a sleek silhouette without compromising on durability.

Produced in a highly exclusive manner with a true eye for detail, these new models will be limited to 1,500 pieces for the HCC007 and 2,500 for the HCC004. Seiko expects them to arrive in stores and at its authorized retailers in June 2026. As for pricing, expect to pay around 1,800 euros for the majestic porcelain version and just under 1,100 euros for the model with the textured dial.

This watch duo accurately reflects the contemporary philosophy of the Presage collection. Seiko demonstrates its ability to appeal to mechanical purists while offering a more sensory vision of luxury, rooted in craftsmanship, materials, and Japan’s rich cultural heritage. Much like the city of Arita on the island of Kyushu—the global cradle of porcelain since the 17th century—these watches remind us that a timepiece does more than simply measure time; it can also embody a true artistic dimension. A poetry of time that, in today’s watchmaking world, is a precious luxury.
