Mango: Jonathan Andic Steps Down; His Duties Temporarily Suspended

The Mango case is getting more complicated. In a statement released by the Spanish fast-fashion brand, the group announced that Jonathan Andic has decided to temporarily step down from his position within the company. The decision is linked to the announcement of his arrest a few days ago in connection with the investigation into the death of his father, Isak Andic. Jonathan Andic, Isak’s eldest son, serves as chairman of the Mango holding company and vice-chairman of the Mango brand’s board of directors.

Unanimous support from management

In an internal memo addressed to Mango employees, the group’s press release explains, Chairman and CEO Toni Ruiz expressed his utmost respect, understanding, and support for Jonathan Andic. In his message, Ruiz also reiterated the strength and significance of Mango’s success story, stating that “the company is in the most prosperous period of its history. We have the full support and long-term vision of our shareholders, a clear, unique, and differentiated strategy, as well as a corporate governance model aligned with the strictest standards.” Ruiz also expressed his gratitude for the many messages of solidarity and support that Mango has received in recent days from around the world, encouraging all company employees to remain united and to continue advancing Mango’s legacy with ambition. The members of the board of directors stated that they unanimously endorse Ruiz’s words and join the Andic family in expressing their support for Jonathan. They further express their full confidence that the legal proceedings will be resolved favorably and hope that this will happen as soon as possible.

Reopening of the investigation and contradictions

Suspicions against Jonathan had intensified in recent months with the reopening of the case. The case had been closed in January 2025 due to lack of evidence of wrongdoing, with the death of Mango’s founder having been classified as a mountain accident at the time. On December 14, Andic’s son—the only person present at the time—claimed that his father had slipped into the ravine and that he was unable to catch him. Subsequently, certain contradictions in Jonathan Andic’s testimony led to the case being reopened. The son’s position was further weakened by the testimony of Estefanía Knuth, Isak Andic’s partner, who described to the magistrates a relationship between father and son that was anything but peaceful, marked by longstanding tensions linked primarily to the management of the company. In October 2025, the turning point: the case was reopened on the basis of a homicide investigation, and Jonathan Andic, who had previously been treated as a witness, was placed under investigation. In November 2025, the magistrate also heard testimony from the two sisters, Judith and Sarah Andic, as well as the founder’s brother.

The family’s official statement

Concurrent with Jonathan Andic’s arrest, the family wished to clarify that: “Jonathan Andic was asked to make a statement regarding the accident of December 14, 2024. He continues to cooperate fully with the legal proceedings. These proceedings remain subject to the secrecy of the investigation; we have no further statements to make at this time."
