Elegance in Motion: Reda Redefines Essential Luxury at Milano Unica
Amid the turmoil of a fashion industry often overwhelmed by the demand for immediacy, Reda has chosen the path of timelessness and clarity. At the 43rd edition of Milano Unica, the Italian weaver unveils its vision for Fall/Winter 2027–2028. A collection conceived as a response to new lifestyles, where the line between formal and casual blurs in favor of a conscious, sustainable, and resolutely functional wardrobe.
Reda 1865: A Journey to the Heart of the Fabric
The Reda 1865 line continues to shape the contours of modern tailoring by prioritizing enhanced clarity. This season’s centerpiece is undoubtedly “Passport,” a travel fabric that has become a benchmark for contemporary mobility. Made entirely from Super 110’s merino wool, this fabric for suits and pants combines a refined aesthetic with essential technical performance: natural elasticity and exceptional resistance to wrinkles. Visually, its blended and slightly ribbed texture evokes the elegance of traditional winter wools, while retaining the crispness of a close-combed fabric.
This season is also marked by a chromatic revival. While warm, textured “heritage” tones remain the cornerstones of the collection, they are now challenged by deeper shades. This exploration of color goes beyond mere aesthetics; it serves as a design tool to infuse even the most classic patterns with contemporary energy, thereby responding to the subtle shifts in the global market.
Innovation and Experimentation: The MORPHO Project
One of the highlights of this presentation is the exhibition of MORPHO – Reda by Dinamo Contemporary Fabrics. This research laboratory is the result of a collaboration between two leaders in the Italian textile industry: the historical expertise of Successori Reda (Biella) and the experimental approach of Dinamo Contemporary Fabrics (Prato). More than just a capsule collection, MORPHO explores new finishes and ways of transforming wool to create fabrics with a unique character. This project, which had already garnered attention at the last Milano Moda Uomo through the NINE TO SIX collaboration with Veramonteforte and Camera Buyer Italia, offers an avant-garde and luxurious take on wool.
From Activewear to After-Ski Luxury
Performance comes at no cost to aesthetics with Reda Active. The collection elevates technical sportswear to a more sophisticated level, playing with blends of pure wool or stretchy wool-nylon blends. The major new release, dubbed “The GOAT,” introduces a particularly refined après-ski aesthetic. By combining wool and cashmere, Reda offers a vision of winter comfort that is both sporty and luxurious. The geometric patterns draw inspiration from technical knitwear to support movement without ever sacrificing elegance.
A fluid narrative in Milan’s palaces
To illustrate this symbiosis between the Formalwear and Active lines, Reda’s new campaign is set in a historic Milanese palace designed by architect Piero Portaluppi. The setting was not chosen at random: the entrance hall becomes the stage for the transitions of everyday life. We follow a man and a woman who, though moving separately through work, travel, and leisure, eventually cross paths. One detail unites them: they are wearing the same coat. This powerful narrative gesture highlights the versatility of Reda’s fabrics and the fluidity of a luxury that seeks not excess, but precision and stylistic coherence.
