A “panda” Navitimer with a unique profile

Breitling unveils a unique iteration of its iconic Navitimer B01 Chronograph 43. Available only in the U.S. and Canadian markets, this version captivates with its silver dial set against three black sub-dials. This “panda” configuration—relatively rare within this collection—is housed in a classic 43-mm stainless steel case. Attention to detail is evident in the slightly recessed sub-dials, adorned with a fine circular guilloché pattern that catches the light.

Refined Materials and Presentation

To add nuance to the chronograph’s technical appearance, the hands, applied hour markers, and winged logo are finished in rose gold. This warm touch softens an otherwise monochromatic aesthetic. The watch is fitted with a mahogany-brown alligator strap, accented with white stitching and secured by a steel folding clasp. This stylistic choice clearly distinguishes this model from previous “panda” versions, combining the elegance of a dress watch with the functionality of an aviation instrument.

An enduring aviation heritage

The brand with the winged “B” here highlights the Navitimer’s unquestionable pedigree. Launched in 1952 and equipped with its famous circular slide rule designed for flight operations, it established itself as early as 1954 as the official watch of the AOPA (Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association). The legend continued in orbit, accompanying astronaut Scott Carpenter on his 1962 mission. These historic milestones cement the Navitimer’s status as a true tool for aviation professionals, justifying its unique place in the world of watchmaking.

Regional Exclusivity and Precision Mechanics

Until now, the “panda” versions of the Navitimer were often exclusive to the Japanese market, with notable releases in the 2000s and in 2023. With this new North American model, Breitling is changing the game and extending this regional appeal to a new audience of collectors.

On the mechanical front, the watch remains true to the brand’s excellence. It houses the in-house B01 caliber, an automatic chronograph movement developed in-house, renowned for its chronometric precision and robust power reserve. By combining this highly sought-after aesthetic with its flagship caliber, Breitling offers a timepiece that transcends its primary function: it is perceived as much as a historic “tool watch” as it is an object of aesthetic desire.
