On February 6, 2026, beneath the neoclassical colonnades of the Legion of Honor Museum in San Francisco, the Thom Browne Fall 2026 fashion show became a testing ground for technology during the GQ Bowl event. Beyond the structured silhouettes characteristic of the New York-based designer, attention was drawn to an unexpected accessory worn by the models: the Bose × Thom Browne QuietComfort Ultra Headphones (2nd Gen). This collaboration marks the convergence of acoustic engineering from the American manufacturer Bose and the rigorous aesthetic of the Thom Browne brand. The product, which breaks away from the industry’s typical plastic finishes, brings the textures of luxury ready-to-wear to a high-tech device.

The heather gray palette applied to audio

The headphones are based on the technical foundation of the second-generation Bose QuietComfort Ultra, but their design has been completely reimagined by Thom Browne’s design studios. The frame, available in the official colors Smoked Pearl and Medium Grey, replaces smooth surfaces with a heather gray cashmere covering. This material is not merely a decorative covering: it is jacket-weight cashmere, traditionally used to craft the brand’s tailored garments. It covers the adjustable headband as well as the removable ear cushions, offering a tactile sensation unusual for an electronic device.

Thom Browne’s visual signatures are scattered throughout the device with geometric precision. On the left earbud, the four-white-stripes motif (4-bar motif) blends into the texture of the cashmere, while the tricolor grosgrain ribbon pull (blue, white, red)—the brand’s enduring signature—is attached to the top. This attention to detail extends to the interior finishes and lining, which feature the tricolor piping characteristic of Browne’s wardrobe.

The aesthetic experience extends to the carrying case. A far cry from standardized covers, this model is a matching hard-shell zippered case, also covered in gray cashmere. It once again features the four-stripe motif and comes with a grosgrain carrying strap, transforming this functional item into a piece of leather goods that harmonizes with the rest of the collection.

A State-of-the-Art Technological Platform

Beneath this fabric exterior, the Bose × Thom Browne QuietComfort Ultra (2nd Gen) retains the Framingham-based brand’s cutting-edge specifications. This closed-back, over-ear model features a customizable Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) system. Users can switch between Quiet mode, for total isolation, and Aware mode, which allows them to remain aware of their surroundings. Bose has also integrated echo cancellation technology to optimize the clarity of phone calls.

The audio experience is powered by the Bose Immersive Audio system, which delivers spatial audio, complemented by CustomTune acoustic calibration. This technology adapts the sound output to the shape of the user’s ear for a personalized listening experience. New to this second generation is Cinema Mode, designed to enhance immersion when watching video content. Connectivity is provided by Bluetooth 5.4, ensuring greater connection stability with the Bose App, through which the equalizer remains fully customizable.

In terms of battery life, the headphones offer up to 30 hours of playtime in standard mode. Enabling Immersive Audio, which consumes more power, reduces this to approximately 23 hours. Charging is done via a USB-C port, and for fans of wired listening, a 3.5 mm to 2.5 mm audio cable is included in the box.

Pricing and Release Schedule

The exclusivity of this collaboration is reflected in a price point significantly higher than that of standard models. Priced at €800.00 in the eurozone and $950.00 in the United States, the Thom Browne model is priced at roughly twice as much as the standard Bose QuietComfort Ultra Gen 2 headphones, which have a list price of $449.00. According to reports from the British tech press, a price of 760 £ is expected for the UK market.

The launch schedule has now been precisely defined by the two partners. Following the initial unveiling last February, pre-orders will officially open on September 24 and 25, 2026, on the Bose and Thom Browne websites. According to specialized media sources, the product’s official release and the start of shipments are scheduled for September 28, 2026, bringing an end to several months of anticipation for collectors and design enthusiasts.
