The scene was designed for twilight. The boat is anchored offshore, the sky is turning gray-blue, and a black board glides just above the surface without touching it, carried by its submerged wing. Beneath it, a 2,000-lumen LED spotlight mounted on the motor block illuminates the water below, leaving a red trail in its wake. This detail, more than any speed figure, sums up the BRABUS x Awake SHADOW CARVE: an eFoil built to be seen, designed by a German tuner who has built his reputation on matte black and touches of red.

A Car Tuner Sets Sail

Brabus is known for its modified cars. It’s less well-known on the water. Yet the German company has been active there for some time through its Brabus Marine division, and the SHADOW CARVE was designed specifically to accompany these boats. It targets superyacht owners, collectors, and enthusiasts of high-end motorboating—that is, a clientele that already brings their water toys on board and for whom aesthetic consistency between the boat and what comes off it is important.

On the technical side, Brabus partners with Awake, a Swedish manufacturer of high-performance electric boards. This isn’t the first joint project for the two brands. They had previously collaborated on a jet-powered electric surfboard, the BRABUS x Awake Shadow Jetboard, also known as the Shadow Explore. The SHADOW CARVE is the next step in this series, featuring a notable shift in discipline: we’re moving from a board that cuts through the waves to a hydrofoil, where the wing lifts the entire unit above the water and creates that sensation of flight.

The base model is familiar to enthusiasts. It’s the VINGA Carve, Awake’s production eFoil, and the new model takes its name from that suffix. So Brabus hasn’t reinvented the mechanics. The tuner has focused on what it does best: materials, color, certain handling adjustments, and lighting.

What the spec sheet says

The electric powertrain delivers 8.2 kW. The advertised top speed is 45 km/h, or 28 mph for the U.S. market. The motor is mounted on an 80-cm reinforced aluminum mast, at the end of which is attached a set of hydrodynamic wings called “Cloud Wings,” bearing the Brabus logo.

Power comes from an interchangeable Awake Flex Battery XR (XR4 version). Awake claims a runtime of up to two hours—or 120 minutes—noting that this depends on sailing conditions and piloting style. A useful note: at full speed and in rough water, it would be unwise to rely on the maximum figure. However, the battery’s interchangeable design allows you to extend your session by swapping out the battery—a feature that really comes into its own aboard a yacht.

The setup relies on Awake’s Click-to-Ride system, a wireless quick-release mechanism. No cables are visible between the board, the mast, and the battery. For a product marketed on its appearance, this is a significant selling point: the lines remain clean, and assembly requires no connectors.

In terms of dimensions, the board measures 157 cm long, 70 cm wide, and 17 cm thick. The total weight, including the battery, is listed at around 34 kg. This figure is approximate: it may vary slightly depending on the fins installed and the battery chosen. Nevertheless, it gives an idea of what you’ll need to carry from the boat’s deck to the water.

A Remote Control and a Customized Design

The board is controlled via a wireless handheld remote, the Flex Hand Controller, shown here in Brabus colors. This is where the project’s most “tuner-style” feature comes into play: an exclusive, unrestricted mode called BRABUS Performance Mode. The name speaks for itself to anyone familiar with the brand’s cars, even though the exact details of how it modifies power delivery haven’t been specified. The concept remains the same as on the road: starting with a stock base and adding a more responsive tuning, reserved exclusively for owners of the Brabus version.

Black carbon fiber, red accents

The body is constructed entirely of carbon fiber, left exposed. The black weave remains visible, accented by bright red details that have long served as the brand’s visual signature. The deck features a high-grip non-slip pad, whose texture forms triangular patterns—a graphic touch that avoids a plain, solid-color finish.

That leaves the lighting, the most spectacular element of the project. The red LED spotlight is housed in the underwater motor unit and directed downward. The effect is truly visible only at dusk, when the light colors the water beneath the board. It serves as much as a staging prop as it does as equipment, and it fully embraces this role.

The packaging follows the same philosophy. The SHADOW CARVE comes with custom Brabus x Awake travel bags for both the board and its components, as well as a charger and a complete accessory kit. For customers who transport their gear from one port to another, transportation is part of the product.

Seventy-seven units

Production is limited to 77 individually numbered units worldwide. Each board bears a “One of 77” badge. The official unveiling took place on October 29, 2026, and the first public appearance was at the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show in Florida, an event held in late October and early November where many of the target buyers are in attendance.

Orders have been open online since October 29, 2026, through the Brabus and Awake stores. In Europe, the official Brabus store listed a price of 20,800 euros (including tax) at the end of October. In North America, the price is $20,490 excluding local taxes, or approximately 18,900 euros excluding taxes at the end of October 2026. Comparing the two figures requires caution: the actual difference depends on VAT and import taxes specific to each country, and it would be misleading to draw an exact equivalence between them.

One piece of information is still missing: neither Brabus nor Awake has announced a shipping date at the time of the launch. Buyers of the 77 boards therefore know what their vehicle will look like at dusk, but not yet when it will arrive on board.
